Communications Intern

SHiFT is currently looking for a Communications Intern to join our team in our office and community center in Qobbeh, Tripoli.

Job description

Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Support in developing and implementing an annual communications plan to ensure excellent communication internally as well as externally to supporters, stakeholders, and the general public
• Support in writing, editing and proofreading a range of materials for both internal and external audiences to ensure consistency and compliance with SHiFT’s branding, values, key messages and style guidelines
• Attend SHiFT’s events and support  in event management if needed
• Be responsible for updating and editing the website and social media 
• Create an archive for media content
• Attend and summarize conferences and meetings when relevant
• Evaluate social media analytics and trends
• Potentially, research topics and issues related to SHiFT’s programming
• Assisting in other ad-hoc activities as instructed

As a small local NGO, we are unfortunately not able to provide a salary for this position. However, transportation costs will be covered for the duration of the internship.

We are looking for a social media -savvy intern with genuine interest to learn more about development and peacebuilding work in North Lebanon. In our recruitment process we emphasize the applicant's ability to take initiative and to carry responsibility.

Requirements

• Degree (minimum BA) in Media and Communications, Graphic Design or other related fields
• Fluency in English and Arabic, including strong writing skills
• Strong computer skills: Excellent Microsoft Office skills, strong skills in social media management
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Cultural sensitivity

We appreciate

• An understanding of the political context in Lebanon and the Eastern Mediterranean region
• Ability to deal with unexpected challenges - it is good to note that SHiFT is located in a  post-conflict area that suffers from poor infrastructure, occasional power cuts etc. 
• Previous experience in communications
• Previous experience in volunteering or working in a civil society organisation
• Strong organisational skills
• Interest and skills in storytelling, graphic design, visual content production
• Experience in campaign development
• Skills in Adobe creative or other programs
• Ability to take initiative

The duration of the internship is minimum 3 months and maximum 6 month and can be negotiated between the potential intern and SHiFT, depending on the type of skills and experience the intern is looking for.
