Main responsibilities:
▪ Function effectively as a member of the Community Mental Health Team
(psychotherapists, psychiatrist, CMH nurse, receptionist) in the coordination of Mental
Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) service delivery.
▪ Collaborate with the CMHC staff on the development and implementation of each
patient’s coordinated mental health care/recovery plan
▪ Complete the appropriate CMHC intake, assessment, and ongoing monitoring in
accordance with CMHC policies and procedures for each consultation
▪ Be familiar with and work to consistently follow the treatment and timeframe guidelines
within the condition-specific care pathways
▪ Be familiar with the use of all assessment tools, sensitivities/specificities, cut-off points,
and use limitations
▪ Provide timely case management to patients accessing mental health services at the
CMHC
▪ Properly assess and promptly refer patients to specialized services
▪ Provide appropriate psychosocial support to patients in need
▪ Conduct targeted MHPSS sensitization and de-stigmatization activities in the CMHC,
PHC/SDC, and throughout the local community
▪ Assist CMH team members in the development and implementation of preventive mental
health measures in the clinic and throughout the local community
▪ Actively build self and others’ capacity

Main activities:
1. Function effectively as a member of the Community Mental Health Team:
▪ Work well within a multidisciplinary CMH team on the mental health concerns of all
community members in need.
▪ Provide organized weekly reporting on mental health activities and collected data.
▪ Actively participate in weekly internal CMH Team meetings.
▪ When required, participate in meetings with key actors.
▪ When required, participate in mental health coordination meetings for the Bekaa.

2. Complete the appropriate intake, assessment, and ongoing monitoring in accordance
with CMHC policies and procedures for each psychiatric consultation:
▪ Complete the intake on all first visits to the CMHC psychiatrist.
▪ Act as a resource for patients on all general and mental health issues

▪ Assist in the assessment of mental health needs, propose appropriate interventions, and
collaborate with other CMH team members in the development and implementation of
each person’s MH care/recovery plan.
▪ Provide appropriate psychosocial support to all beneficiaries.
▪ When necessary, visit the patient’s place of residence.
▪ Provide timely follow-up on referral issues.
▪ Be able to effectively manage crises when patient or family member is agitated,
aggressive, or highly distressed.

2. Be knowledgeable of all CMHC processes, condition-specific care pathways,
assessment tools, outcome tools, forms, policies, procedures and standard operating
procedures.

3. Provide case management and psychosocial support for mental health beneficiaries:
▪ Assist in the assessment of mental health needs, propose appropriate interventions, and
collaborate with other CMH team members in the development and implementation of
each beneficiary’s coordinated MH care/recovery.
▪ Provide proper, timely case management to all beneficiaries.
▪ Provide appropriate psychosocial support to all beneficiaries.
▪ Referral of case-managed beneficiaries to all other needed services.
▪ When required, accompany other CMH Team members on visits to beneficiary’s place of
residence.

4. Community mental health interventions:
▪ Participate in defining effective and culturally appropriate approaches and interventions
at the community level.
▪ Conduct targeted mental health sensitization, public information sharing, and
destigmatization activities in the CMH clinic, PHC/SDC, and throughout the community.
▪ In coordination with the mental health team, develop evidence-based mental health
interventions at the community level.
▪ In collaboration with the mental health team, explore and detect potential risk factors
influencing mental health status of the target population.
▪ Initiate and facilitate mental health support groups.
▪ Advocate on all mental health related issues and/or concerns.
▪ In collaboration with the mental health team, develop and implement innovative
preventive mental health interventions and activities to be undertaken within the
PHC/SDC as well as the wider community.

Requested Competence/Skills/Profile:
▪ University degree in Social Work required.
▪ Experience working within the field of mental health highly valued.
▪ At least 1-2 years of experience in NGO work.
▪ Arabic and English language are mandatory.
▪ Good coordination and communication skills are key.
▪ Belief in a holistic community-based approach towards positive mental health.
▪ Training on mhGAP is a plus
▪ Training on Frontline Crisis Management Protocol is a plus
▪ Skilled in or willing to build their capacity in:

Mental health in complex emergencies (IASC guidelines, Psychological First Aid, mhGAP…)

Biopsychosocial model in mental health

Community-based approach in mental health

Human rights-based approach in mental health

Evidence-based approaches in mental health

Knowledge about the predictable stresses of humanitarian aid work and the policies and practices needed to mitigate them

▪ Ability to cope with difficult security context.
▪ Preferably from the Bekaa region.
▪ Excellence in organizing, planning and prioritizing tasks.
▪ Ability to identify strengths and weakness and in proposing shared solutions for the
continuous improvement of providing quality services.
▪ Strong ability to observe, analyse, report and take initiative.
▪ Ability to work with a team as well as to work independently.
▪ Ability to seek, collect, and critically analyse data and information needed to achieve the
tasks.
▪ Ability to communicate any technical or non-technical topic with clarity and to share any
important project information with the team.
▪ Proficiency with Microsoft word.
▪ Ability to reflect on your own work, recognize what needs improvement, and propose
solutions.
