Job Title        : Trainer

Reports to       : HR Coordinator & Head if Mission

Duty Station    : Beirut, Zahle, Tripoli & Tyre.

Contract Type : Service Agreement

Training Topic: Safety & Security  

Description: 5 training sessions to be conducted; 1 targeting managerial positions, 4 sessions targeting front liners. Each session is divided over a 2 consecutive day period. The training day is expected to be composed of 8 hours (including breaks). Approximate attendees per session will vary between 15 to 20.

Indicative time period: July / august 2019

 

Job Purpose:

The Trainer will be in charge of training employees on the Safety & Security measures related to humanitarian sector in order to prepare participants to understand and react to safety incidents in hostile environments and hazardous situations and to be able to recognize and mitigate potential threats and respond appropriately to various safety incidents.

This position is a short term based assignment that will end when all the deliverables mentioned below are met within the timeframe set above.

 

Generic Duties:

The Trainer will coordinate closely with the HR Coordinator & Head of Mission in INTERSOS in organizing the training sessions which will be conducted for INTERSOS staff based in 4 locations; Beirut, Zahle, Tyre, & Tripoli.

The training shall target 2 level of audience:

  1. Front-liners aiming at improving personal security in the field:
  • Assessing and reducing safety and security risks (at the centers level notably, its display and organization)
  • Evacuation SOP / Safety on the move
  • Incident reporting
  • Basic negotiations skills/interpersonal communication
  • Stress Management
    • how to behave when a beneficiary have a mental crisis
    • how to communicate with beneficiaries and visitor when they are depressed and shouting
    • how to stay safe when doing home visits

 

  1. Management:
  • Context analysis, identifying, analysing and prioritizing operational risks 
  • Developing standard operating procedures (Implementation of security & safety guidelines)
  • Managing compound (office/GH) security (Site selection and the measures to protect it, including the selection of the centers/premises).
  • Set up a safe environment for the staff and the tools/equipment (electricity, communications, vehicles, movement trucking in HIC)
  • Contingency planning (In case of particular context situation: conflict, election, critical incident, evacuation or “hibernation”, weather condition, medical emergency (for expats only), etc)
  • Stress Management

 

Specific Duties:

 

  1. Meet with HR Coordinator & Head of Mission to schedule the sessions, prepare the training material, approach and methodology in line with INTERSOS internal SoPs as follows:
    1. Pre-screening of training needs
    2. Train the staff within the agreed topics providing proper visuals, training materials, and organizing exercises and team activities.
    3. Share the tools, slides, docs with the participants.
    4. Ensure the pre/post tests are filled by every participant.
    5. Ensure the daily attendance sheet and evaluation form are filled and signed by all the participants.
  2. Provide a report on the training by session, no later than 2 weeks from the completion of the training sessions (mission status on safety and security measures, challenges, lessons learned, recommendations, feedback on attendees, etc…)
  3. Submit recommendations necessary for the improvement of the training or the provision of the organization’s policies and procedures where needed.
  4. Other relevant duties as coordinated with the HR & Head of Mission.

 

  Deliverables:

  • Report on the training for each session.
  • Participants’ daily attendance sheet.
  • Pre-post tests.
  • Needed material for training.
  • Content of final presentation.s

 

 

Education:

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Political Science or related field.

 

Competencies: (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

 

Professional Competencies:

  • Certified Trainer on related topics.
  • Experience in NGOs is a plus.
  • Previously delivered trainings on Safety & Security or Hazardous Environment Awareness.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Computer literacy (Word, Excel, power point, etc..).
  • Analytical and reporting skills.

 

Behavioural competencies:

  • Excellent Communication skills.
  • High level of presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Attention to details.
  • Good level of planning and organizing.
  • Cultural awareness.

 

Languages:

  • Fluency in spoken and written Arabic and English
