forumZFD provides training and project support in Germany and abroad. With its members, it advocates the renunciation of violence-based policies, reinforcement of civilian resources in the state and society and democratic participation of all social, ethnic and religious groups. forumZFD currently has more than 80 employees working in 14 locations in Germany, the Middle East, the Western Balkans, and South-East Asia. forumZFD has been working in Lebanon since 2009. The Lebanon-team consists of 15 staff members working in the programme areas of Community Mobilising, Dealing with the Past and Capacity Development. In the area of Community Mobilising forumZFD works with partner organisations to assist communities in addressing their needs and challenges together and in mobilising their own resources for the common good.
Specific tasks within the project work:
Together with our partner Fighters for Peace, forumZFD has started a project in and around Tariq Jdide in September 2018. We are looking for a multitalented, self-starter to support this project as a researcher, coordinator and mobiliser. The person will be working at the forumZFD office in Badaro and in the project location. He/She will be reporting to the project area manager at forumZFD and collaborate with the respective teams of forumZFD and Fighters for Peace. The first few weeks the focus will be on desk-research; designing and conducting a survey to identify potential collaborators and then analysing the collected data. At a later stage the focus will be on mobilising and organising communities.
Research
- Write and / or revise a conflict analysis
- Conduct and document mappings, surveys, focus group discussions, interviews in Tariq Jdide and neighbouring areas around tensions, needs, aspirations, resources, divides, connectors, etc.
- Collect and analyse data to establish community profiles and prepare presentations
- Work closely with the project partners, community and the project teams to identify potential new partners, supporters, influencers, representatives
Coordination & Administration
- Support the project manager (s) in documentation, knowledge management, and administrative/financial tasks
- Support in Planning, Monitoring, Reporting and Evaluation of the project
- Support analysis and implementation of risk-, do-no-harm- and conflict sensitivity measures
- Support the development of structures and networks to safeguard the project’s sustainability
- Support the administrative/financial/reporting tasks of project implementation
- Translation of project documents and interpretation during meetings if required;
Community Organisation
- Identify interested actors in the community, organise and mobilise stakeholders and support the establishment of community groups
- Coordinate between project partners and community representatives to jointly develop and implement change projects and mobilise resources
- Pro-actively organise, coordinate, conduct, document and follow-up on field-work
- Identify capacity building needs of community representatives and organise trainings or other measures if necessary
- Organise validation processes
- Organise a meeting of all actors identified through the three project strands to develop the project plan further
Your profile:
Essential
- Experience in/passion for community mobilising & organising and community-led change processes
- Knowledge of Tariq Jdide and surrounding areas as well as good and productive relationships with diverse actors in the community
- Experience in the design of (community-led) conflict analysis and related research, survey design, implementation and data collection and data analysis methods
- Experience in conflict transformation
- Flexible, pro-active and interdependent working attitude, high tolerance for frustration, different perspectives and conciliatory personality and multi-partiality
- Strong intercultural and interfaith sensitivity and passion for collaboration
- Very good written and spoken command of English and Arabic
- Familiar with standard IT applications
Desirable
- Knowledge of methods of nonviolent- / civil conflict transformation
- Knowledge and practical experiences with systemic approaches
- Experienced in IT applications for data collection and analysis
- Driving license and driving experience.
