Educational and Learning Adviser

HCI-Middle East located in Lebanon, a leading local organization based in Tripoli and Beirut, seeks an Educational and Learning Adviser for the USAID-funded Improving Public Education Outcomes (IPEO) Program. The project aims to support the Ministry of Education (MEHE) and Center for Education and Research and Development (CERD) to improve reading, writing, and social and emotional learning skills of girls and boys in public primary schools in Lebanon. The program will support the public education system’s overall capacity to plan, budget, deliver, monitor, evaluate and institutionalize quality educational services by providing in-depth technical assistance to the CERD and the MEHE after assessing their institutional needs and gaps. Improving the use of data for enrollment, retention and learning will be essential for sustained outcomes. Educational and Learning Adviser:

• Provides support for the development and design of effective curriculum, lesson planning, instructional approaches and materials.
• Designs, coordinates, plans implementation of strategies to advance teacher professional development, coaching, and mentoring. 
• Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in an educational field with experience teaching (grades 1 – 6) literacy/numeracy or related fields.
• Prior experience with development of basic education literacy and numeracy curricula and materials, training programs, classroom monitoring protocols, and tests and assessments is required.
• 3-5 years of professional experience in the education sector with deep understanding of basic education (grades 1 – 6) literacy and numeracy education best practices and research.
• Experience working and teaching in Lebanese schools and knowledge of the Lebanese educational system
• Experience working and teaching Lebanese and Syrian refugees through Non-Governmental Organization is preferred. 
• Experience in collaboration with Lebanese government and ministry counterparts, and local capacity development.
• Knowledge of a balanced literacy framework, early literacy competencies and reading diagnostic measures.
