About Lebanon Support

Lebanon Support is an independent non-governmental, non-religious, non-political, and non-profit making information and research center. Established in 2006, Lebanon Support was registered as a National Non-Governmental Organization in November 2008 (registered under the number 168/2009 AD). Lebanon Support aims at enhancing civil society capacity, efficiency and effectiveness through the creation of public spaces for reflection, collaboration and debate on and for civil society in Lebanon.

Lebanon Support adopts a multidisciplinary approach and evidence and fact-based methodologies in civil society work in Lebanon so as to support and develop a civic voice and a better impact towards better accountability and societal change in Lebanon.

Within this framework Lebanon Support focuses on information and knowledge sharing and management, production and delivery; as it is in within Lebanon Support’s beliefs, that information and knowledge are at the heart of developing adequate strategies and interventions to reduce existing vulnerabilities and marginalization in the country.

Background

Lebanon Support has three main programmes: Daleel Madani, the Civil Society Knowledge Centre, and the Civil Society Incubator. Lebanon Support mainly conducts in collaboration with several partners several documentation, research and analysis activities under different thematics, in order to create a working knowledge-base for civil society actors in Lebanon.

The Civil Society Knowledge Center is an online research & information platform combining qualitative and quantitative approaches, featuring action-oriented research and analysis on civil society and public action issues. Main thematic areas of research are: contemporary and historical conflict analysis; gender; migration; humanitarian crises.

Description

Lebanon Support recruits research interns on a rolling basis. Interns joining Lebanon Support will have access to a wide range of resources in the fields of information management and research, and will acquire new skills and a better understanding of Lebanon’s civil society sector, as well as an in depth knowledge of developmental, humanitarian and human rights notions, concepts and methodologies.

ELIGIBILITY: We welcome applications from undergraduates or fresh graduates for full-time or part-time internships. Candidates should be knowledgeable about Lebanon Support’s scope of work and mandate and fluent in English and Arabic (reading and writing). Candidates without excellent command of both languages are not eligible for this internship.

LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP: Internships at Lebanon Support are of a 3 months term with possible renewal, to a period not exceeding nine months in total. The intern will be expected to work for a minimum of 3 and a half to 5 days a week.

TASKS: The tasks will be determined according to the needs of Lebanon Support and based on the candidates’ profile, education and qualifications. The selected interns may be required to perform both administrative and research tasks for our Civil Society Knowledge Centre (eg. on our Gender Equity Network or our Conflict Analysis Project).

COMPENSATION: As Internships at Lebanon Support are still unfunded, we are unable to provide remuneration nor medical/social security/insurance. (Upon availability of funds, interns may receive a per diem for their working days.) Interns will receive a letter of recommendation detailing their tasks and performance during their work at Lebanon Support.
