Funding policies towards Syrian refugees in Lebanon
WithMr. Ziad Abdel SamadThe Executive Director of the Arab NGO Network for Development (ANND); ANND brings together 30 NGOs and 9 national networks from 12 Arab countries and is active in the protection of social and economic rights. Abdel Samad is also the Co-Founder and the President of the Euro-Mediterranean NGO Platform; the platform brings together 82 national NGOs, national, regional and thematic networks from the two sides of the Mediterranean to mainly monitor the EU neighborhood policy. He is also active in many global and regional networks working on democracy and elections, economic and social policies as well as the role of the International and inter-governmental agencies (EU, Financial Institutions including IMF, W, EBRD, EIB etc.)
Ms. Dalya MitriDalya Mitri is an independent consultant based in Geneva working with various NGOs and think-tanks focusing on humanitarian and development issues in the Arab world. She holds a Master’s degree in political science from Sciences Po in Paris and her knowledge and experience stem from her long standing involvement in the activities, initiatives and programs of local and international agencies, including: the European Commission for Humanitarian Aid (ECHO), Mouvement Social Libanais, René Mouawad Foundation and Interpeace, among others.
The round table discussion will be focusing on the current structures and policies that frame funding from donor countries and agencies towards projects and organizations working with the Syrian refugees in Lebanon, the discussion will look into procedural setups as well as channels and thematic engagement of donors, as well as providing an overview on the profiles of current donors and their intervention strategies and methodologies.
