HEKS/EPER Swiss Church Aid is the aid organisation of the Protestant Churches of Switzerland and has its headquarters in Zurich/Switzerland. HEKS/EPER works towards a more humane and more equitable world, assisting people and communities to overcome economic, social or humanitarian disparities in order to gain autonomy and to live with dignity both in Switzerland and abroad. Therefore, HEKS/EPER engages in development cooperation, humanitarian aid and church cooperation. HEKS/EPER has its own coordination offices in presently 16 key countries and around 200 projects world-wide.

Consultancy for an Evaluation of Swiss Church Aid’s Cash-for-Work Project(s) in Lebanon

1 Description of the intervention
HEKS/EPER has been providing humanitarian assistance through its local partner Najdeh in Lebanon through unconditional cash and cash for work interventions since 2013 as a response to the Syrian Crisis. These interventions have been taking place in the two Palestinian Camps Shatila and Borj el Borajne.
The overall goal of the cash for work interventions have been to increase the resilience of the refugee families from Syria and host families in these two camps. With the main outcomes:

BACKGROUND:

HEKS/EPER is a Swiss INGO founded in 1946 and based in Zurich. HEKS/EPER is supporting local partner organizations with around 200 projects in 34 key countries worldwide. HEKS/EPER builds on strong partnerships with local NGOs active in the field of development cooperation and humanitarian aid. In Lebanon, HEKS/EPER has been supporting local NGOs since the 1970s to address the needs of both the most vulnerable Lebanese and refugee communities.

HEKS/EPER also provides emergency relief for victims of disasters and conflict worldwide and supports the welfare and diaconal work of the Reformed Churches in Eastern Europe. In Switzerland, HEKS/EPER champions the rights and the integration of refugees and socially disadvantaged people. HEKS/EPER is a member of the ACT Alliance and CHS Alliance.

Financial Controller

HEKS/EPER supports projects to combat hunger, poverty and injustice in 32 countries on four continents and provides emergency relief for victims of natural disasters and armed conflict worldwide. HEKS/EPER Lebanon has been supporting humanitarian projects for refugees since 2013. The Financial Controller position holder takes a leadership role in financial planning/analysis and office administration for HEKS/EPER’s operations in Lebanon. She/he ensures that adequate finance, administration procedures/systems are in place, and funds are efficiently used according to HEKS/EPER & donor guidelines
