The Danish Refugee Council
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-profit organization founded in 1956 that works in more than 30 countries throughout the world.
DRC fulfils its mandate by providing direct assistance to conflict-affected populations – displaced Syrians, internally displaced people (IDPs) and host communities in the conflict areas of the world; and by advocating on behalf of conflict-affected populations internationally, and in Denmark, on the basis of humanitarian principles and the Human Rights Declaration.
We understand “durable solutions” as any means by which the situation of displaced Syrians can be permanently and satisfactorily resolved, enabling them to live normal lives. Durable solutions can be voluntary repatriation, local integration or resettlement. In Denmark, DRC assists displaced Syrians in all aspects of integration as well as asylum procedures. Internationally, DRC actively participates in supporting the protection of displaced Syrians, and promoting durable solutions for conflict-affected populations.

The Danish Refugee Council in Lebanon
The Danish Refugee Council has been one of the largest INGOs operating in Lebanon since September 2004. DRC’s main focus in Lebanon includes the provision of emergency assistance to displaced Syrians, and supporting the capacities of hosting communities across Lebanon. This includes four sectors of intervention: Direct Assistance, Protection, Shelter / Collective Site Management and Coordination and Community Empowerment and Livelihoods.

With funding from ECHO, the Danish refugee council’s intervention is designed to improve protection and effectiveness of the humanitarian response in Lebanon by enhanced coordination through joint analysis, planning and response. The Referral Information Management System “RIMS” has the capacity to generate two categories of valuable data that can be used to improve humanitarian response: 1) information on the effectiveness and timeliness of referral processes and 2) gaps in service provision across sectors.
