With its experienced, creative Lebanese partners, CRS proposes to engage youth at both national and community level to open new political space in Lebanon’s communities. A national level youth team, newly trained in concepts of democratic voting, will survey youth perceptions of elections and the role of voters. They will use this data to launch a nation-wide media campaign offering to other citizens a series of provocative questions to pose to newly elect municipal councils about transparency and accountability. Similarly trained youth teams in villages around Lebanon will use these same questions to mobilize peers to create platforms outlining youth’s vision for their villages, challenging new municipal councils to respond to youth priorities. Thus, the youth will be actively involved in the local governance and municipal work to increase citizen awareness of their civic rights and responsibilities
