Call for participation

During times of conflict, numbers of sexual assault cases tend to increase significantly. Both male and female survivors are thus in need of specialized care and services to ensure that their needs are met. These survivors deserve the best possible support and care and we are responsible for to ensuring that qualified personnel have the knowledge and expertise to provide this care.

This training will equip health care provides with the knowledge and tools needed to be able to train other personnel on the Clinical Management of Rape (CMR) pathway while being in line with internationally-recognized standards of good practice.

In collaboration withThe Ministry of Public Healthand in partnership withUNICEF, ABAAD-Resource Center for Gender Equality are planning to conduct the 7 full days ToT workshop on CMR, from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm at Padova Hotel as per following calendar:

Thursday, Nov 6th Tuesday & Thursday, Nov 11th & 13th Tuesday & Thursday, Nov 18th & 20th Tuesday & Friday, Nov 25th & 28th
The workshop aims at strengthening capacities of health care providers in terms of knowledge and skills to be able to train other frontliners and health care staff on the CMR pathway.

The training will be introducing participants to:

Conceptual framework of Gender, Gender Based Violence; Understanding the Lebanese legal framework for provision of care to survivors ( child vs adult survivors) Understanding the direct clinical intervention provided to survivors of sexual assault/rape The different training skills and methodologies that can be used to train on CMR
The training targets towards health care providers that fulfill the following criteria:

Strong interest and commitment to become a trainer on CMR Strong communication skills A degree in health related field At least 5 years experience in health care provision Commitment to work with sexual assault cases, including survivors with alternative sexualities and children Participated in 1 CMR training in the Region (whether through the ABAAD, IRC, training in Lebanon or in any other country of the region) during the last 2 years Commitment to the full days of the training
The training will be conducted by GBV and CMR experts and will involve a mixed-method approach including seminars and plenary discussions, small group work, role plays, and other creative means to ensure learning. Training will be conducted in Arabic and English.

Participant Questionnaires will be screened by an expert committee – including UNICEF and ABAAD members and the expert trainers to determine eligibility to participation.
